One way or another, this story was going to have a happy ending, if for no other reason than that we were not going to quit until it did. Over the years we have taken in and found homes for dozens of unwanted dogs, but none had stayed around as long as, or been a bigger challenge, than The Pupster. As a puppy he was a monster; undisciplined, assertive, demanding, barking for attention, jumping on you, tugging on your pants leg, and chewing anything and everything, and just being a joy to have around. For awhile it looked like he would never be adoptable, but then, little by little, he began to change. As he left the puppy stage behind, most of his bad habits left too, and he became a really nice dog— friendly, playful, intelligent and ready to learn. Now if we could only find the right home for him. After a couple of near misses, and thanks to Xalina Labarge, the match was made. Xalina is coowner of Dog School 101, a training and daycare business in East Cobb. She was approached by Suzi Beaumont, who along with husband Walt, was looking for a dog and wondered if Xalina had any suggestions. She did. She was familiar with the Pupster and thought he might be a good fit. After meeting with and and making a good impression on Suzi and Walt, Pupster had to get the final OK from Emma the cat. While not crazy about having a dog in the house, she is learning to live with him. Now Pupster has a home of his own, and he is thriving. Suzi takes him for long walks, and he is a star pupil at Dog School 101,where he is well on the way to being class valedictorian. Suzi is a website designer, owner of BeauCreations Web Design, and manager of the Critter Chatter website.
