The U.S House of Representatives this week passed HR 5566, a bill banning the sale of photos, videos and other material that depict animal cruelty. A previous law was overturned earlier this year by the supreme court on the grounds that it was too vague. This law seeks to be specific about what it covers.

The law targets what are also called "crush" videos in that they feature small animals being crushed to death by the feet of women often wearing high-heeled shoes.

The vote was 416-3 in favor of passage. Georgia congressman Paul Braun of Athens was one of the three who voted against the bill. The ACLU also opposed the law.
