New Fence Makes the Outdoors Safe for Cats

Most people who have cats know that indoors is the safest place for them, even those who let the cat go outside. Danger awaits the outdoor cat. Depending on the location, danger can come in different forms. In higher populated areas, the risks include dogs, other cats, and the ever-present automobile. In more rural areas, dangers may include, in addition to the previously mentioned risks, wild animals such as raccoons, fox and lately, coyote.

We saw statistics recently claiming that the average lifespan of an indoor cat is 15-19 years, while the average life of an outdoor cat is only 3-5 years. There was no mention of how these numbers were arrived at, and it is likely that the figure for outdoor cats was just pulled out of the air, but the fact is: cats are safer indoors. Yet most of us know of a cat that lived a long, safe, healthy life outside. We also see dead cats on the road every day. So what is the point of all this, assuming there is one? Well, there is, and we are going to get to it eventually.

Even knowing how much safer it is for the cat indoors, many, if not most cat owners see Fluffy staring out the window at that big, beautiful, interesting world out there and feel a little guilty for not letting him/her enjoy it a little. Which raises another question—has anyone ever actually named a cat Fluffy? And if so, is it a male or female name? Not that it should matter, since any cat with a name like that would hopefully no longer be in reproductive mode.

OK, back to the topic at hand—letting the cat enjoy some time outside without putting it at risk. Some people use a cat halter and leash to give the cat access to the sights, sounds and smells of the great outdoors while controlling the amount of access. This will work with a lot of cats—more than you might think—but it isn't the kind of freedom that cats like, and it means giving up your time to indulge the cat. Now there is a better way.

The point, we're getting to it. A new product is on the market that can turn part of your backyard into a safe, healthy paradise for your cat. The Purr…fect Fence Cat Fencing System is the first complete cat fence that safely keeps cats within a designated area. Virtually invisible, yet incredibly strong, this fence will keep cats safe and secure within a designated area. Designed specifically for cat containment, this fence anticipates points of escape and closes them off. The bottom part of the fence is made in a way that prevents escape there, while the top of the fence slants back in and then down, directing climbers back toward the ground inside the fence. The fence is sold as a kit and everything needed for installation is included.

The Purr…fect Fence is sold direct to the consumer on the company website, which has a lot of useful information and answers most questions. The address is www.purrfectfence.com, and the phone number is 888.280.4066.
