New County Adoption Facility Opens In Roswell

Southern Hope Humane Society, manager of the Fulton County Animal Services facility, recently opened the first county no-kill pet adoption shelter in the southeast. It is hoped that this Roswell adoption center will increase the number dogs and cats that are adopted from the Fulton County shelter. All of the animals at the Roswell adoption facility will be transferred from the Fulton County Shelter and will be spay/neutered and vaccinated before entering the facility.

The upscale adoption center, designed by Vern Yip of TLC’s “Trading Spaces,” will include dog suites, a free roaming cat room, separate areas for puppies and kittens, and a “get acquainted room” where people can get to know dogs or cats in a home-like atmosphere.

The new facility will be more convenient for people living in the northern suburbs who might not want to drive all the way down to the shelter on Marietta Boulevard. The Roswell facility is smaller, more upscale and much more visitor friendly. The new adoption center is located at 900 Mansell Road in the Mansell Oaks Shopping Center just west of Alpharetta Highway. The Roswell Pet Adoption center will be open to the public Wednesday-Sunday from 11am-5pm.

A new animal care facility can always use help and this one is no exception. If anyone would be interested in volunteering to help care for the dogs and cats staying at this facility, your services would be greatly appreciated, by both the staff and the animals. Another way to help is by providing short-term foster care for a dog or cat until a permanent home can be found, freeing up space for another to be kept alive.
