A new art gallery that opened recently in Decatur is a little different than most art galleries. The subject matter of the artwork displayed here will be pets and children. The owner of the gallery, Michelle Abeyta, is a popular artist whose whimsical portraits of both pets and children hang in quite a few Atlanta homes. The gallery is a way to gain exposure for her own work as well as the work of other local artists whose art is of or for children. The gallery is filled with pieces ranging from paintings to jewelry. Michelle also teaches children's art classes during the week and on Saturdays. Drop by the gallery to see the latest artwork produced by her students. Drop by Little Peeps Art Gallery located at 810 Church Street in Decatur, and you may find the perfect piece to finish off a child's room, a fun addition to your art collection, or a new piece of jewelry. You will leave with a big smile on your face. For more information, call 404-687-1192 or visit www.littlepeepsartgallery.com.
A PASSION FOR PETS
OPENS ITS DOORS
Jim Wentzell has been caring for the
pets of people in East Cobb for years.
Now, taking it a step further, Jim and
his wife Marcia have opened a new
business to serve the pet owners of
that area. With the opening of their
new freestanding facility on Sandy
Plains Road, A Passion for Pets is a pet
sitting service and much more. They
now offer doggie day care, which had
not been available in the area. They
also offer dog grooming, as well as dog
education classes. There is an agility
playground where dogs and owners
can learn to enjoy this highly popular
activity. There are gourmet bakery
items for dogs to enjoy, and a boutique
filled with all kinds of wonderful pet
related items. And, of course, A Passion
for Pets still offers in-home pet sitting.
The location is 1083 Sandy Plains
Road. It is easy to find.
PET SITTER NETWORK
CELEBRATES 10TH
ANNIVERSARY
Ten years ago, with the Olympic
games due to get under way in a few
months, there was a great deal of concern
that the massive influx of people
coming to the games would make it
next to impossible to move around in
the city. A lot of people took jobs
working at the games, and others just
left town to avoid the hassles. All in
all, a lot of pets were going to have to
be cared for during that period.
Concerned that the congestion would
make it difficult for pet sitters to move
around to care for the pets they were
looking after, a group of pet sitters got
together and arranged to work together
and cover for each other in the
event of a problem. It was a lot of
work, but it was successful, and in the
end, all of the pets had been cared for
in an efficient way.
Realizing that working together helped
everyone, they decided to continue to
cooperate and decided to form a networking
organization. This year the
Georgia Network of Professional Pet
Sitters celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Begun out of necessity, it has grown to
sixty member businesses covering the
entire metro area and surrounding
counties, east to Augusta and north to
the mountain counties. Their website -
www.georgiapetsitters.com - has a
locator that allows a pet owner to
enter a zip code and find all of the
member pet sitters who serve that
location.
