Guido tries hard to be a good dog. He chases cars. He herds sheep. He loves to be scratched behind the ears. He follows his owner around as much as possible. His girlfriend is an Australian cattledog. There is only one problem. Guido is a sheep, a ram to be exact.

A motorist found Guido along a road in the Australian outback – an orphaned lamb – and brought him into the small town of Collector. Constable Ron Vergano offered to take him in and care for him, bottle feeding him until he was old enough to graze. His girlfriend at the time thought Guido was adorable and wanted to rear him, but before too long she was gone, and Guido is still there.

Constable Vergano has a female cattledog named Jada, and she and Guido became good friends as he grew up, romping and playing together. Collector is located in the middle of sheep country, and there are always loose ones around. When a stray wanders into town, Jada and Guido herd it into a pen where it will be safe until its owner can be found. As much as Guido wants to be a dog, he doesn’t have the stamina for everything. Vergano and Jada go for a run every morning, and one morning Guido decided to come along. It was fine for awhile, but by the end of the first mile, Guido was pooped, and Vergano had to carry him back. Guido lives in the police compound in Collector, and is allowed to roam about town. He visits with townspeople, greets visitors, and hangs out with Jada. On Mondays, yoga classes are held in the town hall, and Guido always stops by and sticks his head in to see how things are going.

Jada and Guido have always been close, but Guido seems to be getting more and more fond of Jada with each day. Now that he is grown up, he seems to want to take their relationship to the next level. When Jada looks at Guido, you can see that she is thinking those three little words that always go through a girl’s mind at a time like this, “Are you crazy?” But Guido persists, and doesn’t seem to understand her lack of enthusiasm. Constable Vergano thinks he has a solution to the problem. A friend of his raises sheep, and has a group of ewes that would love to spend some time with a nice eligible ram like Guido. So every now and then Guido will get a little R&R from his police dog duties, and go hang out with the girls, and no that is probably not the best way to phrase it, but it’s too late now.
