Cat in Iowa gets swine flu from human Print E-mail

Officials in Iowa have confirmed that a cat had become sick with the H1N1 flu virus, the first known case of a cat acquiring the disease. The indoor only cat, which never went outside, is assumed to have contracted the virus from a member of the family, two of whom were sick with the H1N1 influenza. Both people and the cat recovered and are doing well, but this serves notice to pet owners that this virus can be spread to animals, and that extra care should be taken to protect pets if someone in the home comes down with swine flu.
